About

How to Use this Site:

This website is broken up by video game ratings. Each game that is published has to go to the Electronic Software Ratings Board, or the ESRB, to get rated. Similar to movies, each game has a rating to tell the buyer which audience it is most appropriate for. The ratings are as follows:

EC - Early Childhood
E - For Everyone
E 10+ - For Everyone 10 and up
T - For Teens
M - For Mature
AO - For Adults Only (Usually only PC games have this rating)

This website only covers EC - T. Libraries that do have a video game collection vary on which ratings they carry. For more information on ratings visit www.esrb.org.

The tabs are further broken up into console type. Although many games are made for multiple consoles, The ones that were chosen were to show the variety of games available for libraries.

Video games are also broken up into genre. Even though this website doesn't organize the games by genre it is important to know the different ones in order to better serve patrons. For a list and descriptions of video game genres click here.
